I am interested in multimedia from the vantage of a technology using educator situated in an increasingly digital culture; not as a theorist but as a practitioner and writer, determined to wrest the opportunities these tools might afford us and our students to do ethnographic, historical and culturally rich inquiry.

What I have pursued in the making of the Abecedarian are the diverse ways one can use multiple media for sense making and for knowledge construction, in order to shift the way we see and think about children of color in particular. Digital tools offer us a wide angle lens to experience and comprehend the meaning of culture and culture making; a way of reclaiming the media from being something massive and trivializing, something which happens to us at a distance by someone else, into a public space that resounds with multiple images of what it is to be human and alive.
