Woe betide the profession afflicted by historical amnesia; stocked with a language arsenal of idioms, jargon, pseudojargon, clichés, words and phrases said repeatedly so as to signify nothing.

Dead language is dangerous because it uses up the time and social space that produces images and artifacts, dreams and acts. Dead language seduces people. It inflates their sense of importance.
